October 2, 2024 – Georgia's Indonesian community plans to celebrate its rich cultural diversity of heritage, cuisine, and entertainment at an inaugural festival on Nov 3. The festival aims to immerse visitors in Indonesian culture through cuisine, art, music, fashion, and more.
The festival is scheduled at The Hilton Atlanta Northeast Ballroom from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm. Organized by IKMIA, a non-profit organization, in tandem with their 20th founding anniversary.
“One of IKMIA's missions has always been introducing and promoting Indonesian culture. From food sampling to traditional dance performances passed down through generations, and the authentic sound of a traditional Gamelan ensemble, visitors can experience the true essence of Indonesia,” said Augs Etika, Chairman of IKMIA.
Georgia has one of the largest Indonesian communities in the Southeast region. According to the latest data from the US Census Bureau, the estimated population size of the Indonesian community in Georgia is approximately 7,000.
Among the highlights is the food bazaar, selling delectable traditional dishes and desserts.
There are scheduled performances of Indonesia's martial art form Pencak Silat and a traditional Gamelan ensemble performance at the festival.
Visitors can expect an interesting lineup of Indonesian artisans and businesses promoting their services and products.
A contemporary Indonesian fashion show has been scheduled to promote designs and ready-to-wear fashions by emerging designers.
Indonesian Muslim Family Association (IKMIA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving the Indonesian and international community in Georgia. IKIMIA was founded in 2004. IKMIA mission is to foster cultural understanding, promote Indonesian culture, community engagement, and provide various services to support the well-being of its members.
