Norcross, July 12, 2024 – GAT celebrates the 2024 honorees of 25 Most Influential Asian American Pacific Islanders in Georgia with a high-energy Awards Gala at Happy Valley Restaurant.
Guest of honor included Honorable Mio Maeda, Consul General of Japan Atlanta, State Representative (HD-50) Michelle Au, JT Wu, Gwinnett County Public Library Chairman, and local AAPI community leaders.
State Representative Michelle Au, who also serves as Chairwoman of Georgia's AAPI Legislative Caucus, delivers the keynote address for the evening.
Over 150 guests including business, legislative, and AAPI community leaders participated in the awards dinner gala.
The celebration is celebrated in conjunction with GAT's 20th anniversary of its founding.
“It has been a remarkable journey to get to where we are today. There has been a lot of hard work and tears along the way. We are proud to achieve this important milestone with the support of the AAPI community and supporters,” said Li Wong, CEO & Publisher of Georgia Asian Times.
The event highlights the powerful acceptance speeches by the honorees who participated. This year's celebration featured 14 women and 11 men honorees.
The honorees were selected by an open online nomination on GAT's website. The online nomination started in January 2024. The honorees were selected by a selection committee comprised of the GAT Editorial team, local AAPI media representatives, and local AAPI leaders.
The 2024 Asian American Spirit Award was presented to the Chinese Americans Lions Club of Atlanta. Asian American Spirit Award is an honor bestowed upon organizations who demonstrate extraordinary dedication to the principles that strengthen America’s communities. Through their work and philanthropy, Asian American Spirit Award recipients exemplify the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and initiative while making unselfish contributions to their community.
