Chamblee, February 9, 2026— The Spruill Center for the Arts will open Spruill Studios in June, converting Chamblee's former city hall building into affordable creative workspace for metro Atlanta artists.
The new facility at the historic Peachtree Road location will feature 15 studios ranging from 100 to 200 square feet, along with public gallery space showcasing resident artists' work. Renovations begin in March, with artist applications opening March 9.
“Our stakeholders identified a clear need for affordable and accessible studio space in the Perimeter area,” said Spruill CEO Alan Mothner. “We're thrilled to partner with the City of Chamblee to offer this space and programming for area artists.”
The project marks the latest expansion for Spruill, which added an 8,300-square-foot wing to its Dunwoody Education Center two years ago.
Mayor Brian Mock welcomed the partnership, calling it “a beautiful evolution of our former City Hall, from a place of civic leadership to a space where creativity and community can thrive together.”
Spruill Studios plans to host open studio tours during major Chamblee events, including the annual Chalk Walk, providing artists with enhanced public visibility.
