New Scholarship Program Aims to Nurture Next Generation of Chinese American Leaders

The Ko Family Foundation Scholarship will award a total of four scholarships annually—two to high school seniors and two to college underclassmen—recognizing both scholastic achievement and dedication to community service. First-prize recipients in each group will receive $10,000, while runners-up will be awarded $2,000.

Atlanta, May 29, 2025 — The National Association of Chinese Americans (NACA) has launched a new merit-based scholarship program aimed at cultivating leadership and academic excellence among Chinese American youth. Backed by a generous endowment from the Ko Family Foundation, the initiative underscores a growing effort to invest in the next generation of community leaders.

The Ko Family Foundation Scholarship will award a total of four scholarships annually—two to high school seniors and two to college underclassmen—recognizing both scholastic achievement and dedication to community service. First-prize recipients in each group will receive $10,000, while runners-up will be awarded $2,000.

“We are honored to partner with the Ko Family Foundation to offer this transformative scholarship,” said Lani Wong, Chair of NACA’s Board. “It aims not only to ease financial barriers but also to inspire leadership grounded in cultural heritage.”

Eligibility for the 2025 cycle is limited to U.S. citizens or permanent residents of Chinese descent residing in Georgia or Florida. High school applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.5 and competitive standardized test scores, while college applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be enrolled full-time in their first or second year.

Applications are due by September 30, 2025, and can be submitted via NACA’s official website.
