Japan Welcomes the World for Osaka World Expo 2025

The theme of the Expo 2025 will be "Designing Future Society for Our Lives" with participants sharing their ideas and technologies in dozens of pavilions across the expo site, which is located on a man-made island just off the coast of central Osaka.

Atlanta, February 10, 2025 – Japan is ready to welcome the world as they host the 2025 World Expo in Osaka. In an exclusive interview with Georgia Asian Times, Consul General Mio Maeda, Consul General Japan Atlanta, provided vital updates and information about the World Expo Osaka.

Japan hosted the general World Expo in Osaka in 1970 and 2005 in Aichi. Osaka is located in the Kansai region of Honshu island and is the third-most populous city in Japan.

The theme of the Expo 2025 will be “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” with participants sharing their ideas and technologies in dozens of pavilions across the expo site, which is located on a man-made island just off the coast of central Osaka.

The same island, Yumeshima, is also scheduled to see a massive new resort with a casino around 2030.

Consul General Maeda explains that U.S. residents are allowed to travel visa-free for 90 days if they are on sightseeing and non-work or business visits. He further adds that the general public can reach out to the consular department of his office if they have questions.

He also shared that tickets are generally purchased online at the World Expo website, and the price starts at about 7500 yen (about US$45.00) for the day pass.

In addition to Osaka, Consul General Maeda also recommends visitors visit Kyoto and Kobe during their visit to the Kansai region. Kyoto is the ancient capital with a lot of historical buildings. Kyoto is famous for its cloth weaving, whereas the city of Kobe is widely known for shoe craft making and wagyu beef.

Over 159 countries and international organizations have confirmed participation at this year's World Expo, according to Consul General Maeda. Many countries are showcasing their innovative technologies and ideas for future society and the changing global environment.

“The United States will have a pavilion at the World Expo in Osaka,” confirmed Consul General Maeda.

Visitors are encouraged to visit the Osaka World Expo website for further information.
