Peachtree Corners, April 26, 2024 – Julie Su, Acting Secretary of Labor, hosts a conversation on the importance of voting with Georgia AAPI community leaders.
She highlighted President Biden and Georgia Democrats’ efforts to engage and uplift the AAPI community in her opening remarks.
Several Georgia's AAPI State Legislators were in attendance including Rep. Sam Park, Rep. Long Tran, Rep. Michelle Au, Rep. Marvin Lim, and Kannan Udayarajan, Chairperson of Forsyth County Democrats.
The conversation centered around the importance of representation and investment in Asian American communities, with a focus on economic inequality, job creation, and small business support.
Secretary Su emphasizes the need for a President who understands AAPI Community needs and can address them effectively.
The conversation also focused on the challenges of addressing difficult situations, such as the current political climate, affordable housing, and the importance of equity access to government contracts in local communities.
Additionally, the conversation shifted to Asian American Pacific Islander representation in government policies and workforce development.
Secretary Su also emphasizes the need for climate change and the progress in infrastructure development with the AAPI audience in attendance.
The meeting lasted approximately an hour and the Secretary spent time to meet individually with AAPI community leaders on the sideline.
