Gwinnett County Collaborate with CBRE to Redevelop Gwinnett Place Mall

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners adopted an Equitable Redevelopment Plan and a Livable Centers Initiative Plan that incorporated extensive community engagement and involvement.

Lawrenceville, March 5, 2024 – Gwinnett County officially announced its partnership with CBRE Group, one of the world’s premiere real estate company for the redevelopment of Gwinnett Place Mall.

Gwinnett County bought the 39-acre portion of the Gwinnett Place Mall site in 2020, recognizing that the area needed a catalytic project to revitalize the underused activity center.

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners adopted an Equitable Redevelopment Plan and a Livable Centers Initiative Plan that incorporated extensive community engagement and involvement. The vision for the site is to create a dense, mixed-use activity center that is well connected, green and walkable, while preserving the cultural diversity and character of the area.

“This is a significant and exciting new development in the story of the mall’s revitalization,” said Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson said in a press release. “CBRE is the right partner to help bring a transformative redevelopment project to the Gwinnett Place Mall site.”

CBRE Group, Inc., a Fortune 500 and S&P 500 company headquartered in Dallas, is the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm.

“I am excited to be a part of the transformation of this place that I have called home for over 35 years,” said Jae Kim, Vice President and head of CBRE’s U.S. East Coast Korea Desk.

“Building on Gwinnett County’s work to date and commitment to this transformational project, CBRE is proud to join the County to deliver a revitalized, vibrant, and inclusive development for Gwinnett residents.”

Gwinnett County will collaborate with CBRE to develop plans and to maximize the opportunity for a transformative project. They will also seek out potential redevelopment partners to transform the site based on the strategic plan.
