Duluth, January 20, 2024 – Local businessman and Vietnamese community leader Tung (Tim) Le has officially declared his candidacy for the position of Gwinnett County Commissioner, District 1.
Born in Vietnam, Tim Le came to the United States at the age of 10, reuniting with his family in Southern California in 1989. He pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering at California Polytechnic University of Pomona, leading to a successful career as a Senior Equipment Engineer at NEC Electronics, specializing in the manufacturing of DRAM memory chips.
In 2004, Tung relocated to Georgia with his wife Amy Lam and daughter Tiffany Le. Demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit, he ventured into the real estate sector in 2006, focusing on commercial and residential investments and development. Tim's success in the industry is evident through numerous real estate investment projects across the metro Atlanta region, including his current collaboration on the Boardwalk commercial development project.
Beyond his business ventures, Tim has been actively involved in the Vietnamese American Community of Georgia since 2006. Serving as the vice president from 2008 to 2012, he worked alongside prominent Vietnamese business owners to establish the Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce. His commitment to community service extends to various leadership roles, including serving as a board member for the Georgia Department of Committee Affairs, Gateway85 Community Improvement District, Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of Peachtree Corners Downtown Development Authority.
He believes that his diverse background positions him as an ideal candidate to serve both the Vietnamese community and all Gwinnettians.
If elected, Tung Le pledges to prioritize public safety, reduce property taxes, and champion support for small businesses. He emphasizes the need to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and minority communities, foster budgetary balance, and make homeownership affordable for all Gwinnett residents. Tung Le advocates for business-friendly policies to navigate the challenges posed by the economic downturn.
As the first Vietnamese American graduate of Leadership Gwinnett in 2012, he aspires to make history as the first Vietnamese American elected as County Commissioner in Georgia. District 1, encompassing the City of Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Berkeley Lake, Duluth, part of Suwanee, and Lawrenceville, will benefit from Tim's dedication to fostering collaboration and addressing community needs.
