Chamblee, January 17, 2026 – The Chamblee community is mourning the loss of Sergeant Loc D. Tran, a respected law enforcement leader and U.S. Army veteran, who passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 42 due to medical complications.
Sergeant Tran dedicated more than 15 years to public service with the Chamblee Police Department after beginning his law enforcement career in December 2010. Over the years, he rose through the ranks, serving as Detective, Uniform Division Sergeant, and most recently as Criminal Investigations Sergeant, a role he assumed in May 2024.
Before joining Chamblee Police, Tran served his country in the United States Army from 2002 to 2007 as an Army Pharmacy Specialist. During his military service, he worked in troop medical clinics, combat support hospitals, and medical centers, providing critical medical and pharmaceutical care to both military personnel and civilians. He completed his service at the rank of Specialist (E-4).
Colleagues describe Sergeant Tran as a dedicated professional who led with integrity, respect, and compassion. He was widely admired within the department and deeply respected by the community he served. His work ethic and commitment to helping others left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Sergeant Tran is survived by his mother, Monghoa Tran; his brother, Stephen Tran; his sister, Theresa Tran; and a large circle of extended family, friends, and colleagues within the Chamblee Police Department.
As the City of Chamblee honors his legacy, Sergeant Loc D. Tran is remembered not only for his service and leadership, but for his kindness and unwavering dedication to others. His contributions will continue to be felt throughout the community for years to come.
