Andy Beshear Rally for Harris Campaign in Forsyth County

Cumming, July 28, 2024 – Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear made a campaign rally stop for The Harris for President campaign in a deeply red district in Forsyth. He spoke on the bed of a Dodge Ram truck outside a new campaign office for Team Harris for President in an industrial complex.

The rally featured Georgia state Senator Josh McLaurin, candidate for U.S. House (GA-07) Bob Christian, candidate for Georgia Senate District-48 Ashwin Ramaswami, and 6th Congressional District Democrats Chair Melissa Clink, and Hadley Duvall, a reproductive rights advocate and sexual assault survivor.

“From the age of five years old, I was sexually abused by my stepfather at the time. When I was 12, he impregnated me… The first thing I remember hearing was, ‘you have options.’… But now, women and girls don’t even have that to hold on to. They have no options… all because of Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans,” said reproductive rights advocate Hadley Duvall.

The Kentucky governor earned a reputation as a rising political star by beating Donald Trump-endorsed candidates in a Republican stronghold at last year’s Kentucky Governor’s race.

Beshear is among several leading Democratic candidates to be named as running mate nominee by the August 7 deadline.

“For this election, Vice President Harris has not won this nomination through a coronation. She’s won this nomination through acclamation. And for now, she needs us because so much is on the line. Women’s rights are on the line. Donald Trump strips a constitutional right from over half of our population. So I say we strip away the opportunity for him to serve a second term,” said Governor Beshaer in his remarks.

The rally attracted over 300 supporters and officially opened the 24th coordinated campaign office in Georgia.

Beshear made a passionate plea for people to sign up as campaign volunteers.

“Between now and Election Day, we need you to do what you do best, the hard work. We need you to get out there because every vote in every county matters. There aren’t red counties and blue counties. They’re just counties with hard work and families that are going to be open to hear you talk to them. It’s the work on the ground. That won me the election in 2019. Folks, I won by point 1%. Every door knock matters, every phone call matters, every difficult conversation that people had with their uncle at Thanksgiving. Matter. Everyone here today who signs up to volunteer you matter,” said Governor Beshear.

Over the past weekend, the Harris for President campaign has brought enthusiasm to young voters and grassroots volunteers.

The Harris campaign announced that they had raised over $200 million and have signed up over 170,000 new volunteers to support the campaign.

Over the past week, the Harris Team has opened several campaign offices in Dekalb, Fulton, Forsyth, and Gwinnett County to energize voters and supporters in metro Atlanta.
