Atlanta, March 13, 2023 – Georgia Asian Times hosted a Legislative Luncheon in recognizing the 11 AAPI legislators elected to the Georgia House and Senate. The Georgia AAPI Legislative Caucus represents the largest body of AAPI elected legislators in the mainland of U.S.
GAT team of podcasters representing the diverse AAPI ethnic community were on hand to meet and greet with elected legislators. Podcasts members representing Tam Su Voi (Vietnamese), SungKhom Lao (Laotian), Usapang Pinoy (Filipino), and Georgia Korean Podcast presented luncheon cuisines from their respective community.

The luncheon attracted representatives from both Republican and Democratic aisles as the room was packed. Rep. Sam Park, Georgia House Minority Leader, Rep. Michelle Au, Chair of Georgia AAPI Legislative Caucus, Rep. Soo Hong, HD 103 and Rep. Matt Reeves, HD-99, Rep. Edna B. Jackson, HD-165, Rep. Dewey McClain HD 109, Rep. Brian Prince HD 132, Rep. Charlice Byrd HD-20, Rep. Ruwa Romman HD-97, Senator Nabilah Islam 7th District were amongst the legislators attended the luncheon.
“This is an important platform as I've a chance to meet and connect directly with the legislators in person,” said Amy Tep, host of Tam Su Voi, Vietnamese podcast team. “I hope to invite some of them to appear on our podcast to discuss issues and bills affecting our community,” adds Tep.
“The luncheon provide an opportunity for legislators to meet and connect with our reporters and podcasters. It will help elevate important conversations with the AAPI community,” said Li Wong, CEO/Publisher of Georgia Asian Times.
Prior to the lunch session, Georgia Asian Times team was recognized at the Georgia State Capitol floor by the Georgia House of Representatives. Rep. Long Tran provided the introduction of GAT at the House floor.
