Georgia’s largest ethnic media collaborate in pioneering journalism move

Atlanta Voice, Georgia Asian Times, and Mundo Hispanico collaborate in pioneering journalism coverage of ethnic communities in metro Atlanta and Georgia

Atlanta, April 26, 2022 – Three largest ethnic media covering the African American, Asian American, and Hispanic communities in metro Atlanta and Georgia collaborates in a pioneering journalism effort to better inform the fast growing ethnic communities in metro Atlanta and Georgia.

Atlanta Voice, Georgia Asian Times and Mundo Hispanico are set to host their inaugural effort with an in-person interview with Stacey Abrams, Democratic Party candidate for the Governor of Georgia on Thursday, April 28, 2022.

“We are setting a new standard for journalism in Georgia. This project has been in the works for a long time and through many hiccups. I'm glad that we are able to come together for the inaugural interview with Stacey Abrams,” said Li Wong, CEO & Publisher of the Georgia Asian Times, largest independent media covering the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in metro Atlanta and Georgia.

“Our newspaper has been serving the Black and African American communities in Georgia for over 50 years. We are proud to work together with other ethnic media groups to share our stories and news to better inform our people,” said Janis Ware, President and Publisher of Atlanta Voice, the largest independent media covering the African American community in Georgia.

The collaborative effort is named Ethnic Media Collaboration and the project plans to host several more in-depth conversations on issues that affects the ethnic and communities of color in metro Atlanta and Georgia.

“It is more important than ever that communities of color work together toward a broader purpose.” adds Rene Alegria, President & CEO of Mundo Hispanico.

“The face of America has changed dramatically over these last few decades. Georgia is now reflective of a broader conversation about representation and engagement. Working together through this Collaborative, we can help jumpstart dialogue in dramatic ways.” ​adds Alegria.

The inaugural event is scheduled for 10:00am-12:00noon at the Grand Ivy Point event hall in Suwanee. The event is exclusively by invitation only and has been sold out at the time of this release.
