Norcross, July 26, 2019 – The American Korean Friendship Society hosts a wreath laying ceremony commemorating Korean War veterans at the Korean American Community Center in Atlanta.
Over 75,000 Georgians fought in the Korean War and 740 Georgians were killed in action with 1040 wounded. 158 soldiers are still unaccounted for, according to Georgia Department of Veterans Service.
Among the dignitaries attended and provided remarks at the ceremony including Brad Raffensperger, Georgia's Secretary of State, General Burwell Bell, US Army Retired, Former Commander, USFK, and Consul General Young-jun Kim of South Korea.
Rear Admiral (Ret) Robert Lunney, Former Chief of Staff, USS Meredith Victory, provided the keynote remark at the ceremony.
Sunny K. Park, President of American Korean Friendship Society, announced a scholarship in honor of General Raymond Gilbert Davis, U.S. Marines Corp., at Berry College in Rome during the ceremony.
The scholarship worth over $235,000 was established to assist students from families of Korean War veterans in their academic pursuits in Berry College.
The American Korean Friendship Society is a non-profit, non-political civic organization founded in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Society is to celebrate and strengthen the unique relationship between the peoples of the Republic of Korea and the United States of America.
