March 6, 2025, Buckhead – In a ceremony steeped in tradition and diplomacy, the Consulate General of Japan in Atlanta honored Lewis Holladay Lancaster III with The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, recognizing his contributions to strengthening ties between Japan and the United States.
The award, bestowed in celebration of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan’s birthday, was presented by Consul General Mio Maeda at a private reception held at his residence. The intimate gathering included Lancaster’s family, along with prominent figures from the business and community sectors.
Past recipients of the distinguished honor include Sachi Koto, a longtime journalist and former CNN anchor.
“For me, this is not only an incredible honor but also perfectly timed,” Lancaster said in his acceptance speech. “My wife and I will be relocating to Japan next week. I’m grateful to Consul General Maeda for making this presentation possible before our departure.”
Lancaster was joined by his wife and family at the ceremony, marking the occasion with a poignant farewell as he prepares for his next chapter abroad.
