SCAD Korean Student’s Winning Mural Soars at Delta Flight Museum’s Grand Reopening

Wee’s winning submission, Keep Climbing, was selected from a competitive SCADpro challenge that tasked students with capturing Delta’s theme, "Humanity Lifts Us."

Atlanta, April 9, 2025 — When the Delta Flight Museum unveiled its newly renovated space this week, visitors were greeted by a striking 13-foot-high digital mural celebrating the airline’s centennial—a vibrant, interactive piece designed by Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) student Jennifer Wee.

Wee’s winning submission, Keep Climbing, was selected from a competitive SCADpro challenge that tasked students with capturing Delta’s theme, “Humanity Lifts Us.” The 99-foot-long artwork, created with Adobe Illustrator, blends abstract design with human connection, inviting travelers to engage by matching their boarding pass letters to the mural for a personalized photo op.

The project was part of a three-week sprint led by SCADpro, the university’s innovation lab that partners with global brands to solve creative challenges. More than 20 students across disciplines—from painting and animation to interactive design and creative business leadership—competed for the chance to see their work displayed in the museum, which reopened Monday after renovations.

Wee’s design frames Delta’s iconic logo with small, dynamic figures—workers, families, and travelers from diverse backgrounds—symbolizing the airline’s global community. “The letters represent Delta’s 100-year foundation,” said Wee, an M.F.A. motion media design student. “But inside them, it’s all about the people who keep it moving.”

The mural is designed to resonate from any distance. From afar, its bold colors and geometric forms catch the eye; up close, child-sized characters create playful photo moments. “I wanted to reflect Delta’s warmth and ambition,” Wee said. “The idea of climbing—of always striving higher—felt universal.”

Born in New York and raised in South Korea, Wee brings a cross-cultural perspective to her work, which has been featured in exhibitions like Design Korea. With a year left at SCAD, she aims to push motion media design further, merging storytelling with immersive technology.

For Delta, the collaboration underscores a century of innovation. “This mural isn’t just art—it’s an experience,” said a museum representative. “It’s a testament to how far we’ve come, and where we’re headed next.”

As travelers pass through the museum, Wee’s creation reminds them: Every journey begins with people.
