Dunwoody, August 15, 2026 — An Egyptian delegation sat down for a conversational roundtable with executives from the National Association of Chinese Americans (NACA) seeking a deeper understanding of U.S. policy toward East Asia.
The visit was arranged by the Georgia Council for International Visitors and sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
NACA was represented by Chairwoman Lani Wong, President Nellie Li, and Board Member Maggie Mers. Over the course of the hour-long discussion, the executives offered the delegation a firsthand look at the perspectives and experiences of Georgia’s Chinese American community.
“We are pleased to host the Egyptian delegation and to help promote better understanding of U.S. policy on China,” said Wong.
The exchange is part of a broader IVLP initiative built around several key goals: examining U.S. foreign policy and economic engagement in East Asia, with particular attention to strategic competition with China and Washington’s alliances with Japan and South Korea; introducing participants to the many voices shaping U.S. foreign policy across the public and private sectors; connecting delegates with Asian and Asian American communities, including Uyghur and Chinese diaspora populations; and presenting cross-Strait relations through an American lens.
For the Egyptian delegation, the roundtable offered a rare opportunity to hear directly from a community with firsthand insight into U.S.-China relations with a perspective not often accessible through official policy channels alone.
