Norcross, August 19, 2025 – First Senior Center of Georgia (FSCofGA) was among the honorees recognized by Congressman Hank Johnson at the annual H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Elevate) Awards held at the Lou Walker Senior Center.
Founded by CEO Von Tran, FSCofGA serves as a lifeline for Vietnamese seniors and vulnerable elders across metro Atlanta. The nonprofit was recognized alongside other organizations including Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network, Spectrum Autism Support Group, First African Community Development Corporation, Mosaic Health Center, and the How Big is Your Dream Foundation.
“Our nonprofits are the backbone of this country, providing critical service and support that improves communities and saves lives,” said Congressman Johnson in presenting the awards.
Tran expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting, “This award means that our seniors are seen, and the hard work of our staff and volunteers is recognized.”
Over the past year, FSCofGA has expanded its impact with programs addressing housing insecurity, health awareness, and food distribution. The organization provided nearly $100,000 in emergency rent and utility assistance, partnered with the American Cancer Society for cancer detection workshops, and continued operating one of Georgia’s largest food banks, distributing over 200,000 pounds of food monthly to 3,200 households.
Tran herself has been honored as a past recipient of Georgia Asian Times 25 Most Influential Asian American Pacific Islander in Georgia, Georgia Everyday Hero (Atlanta Journal-Constitution), and a Georgia Game Changer (WSB-TV).
