Atlanta, April 1, 2020 – Governor Brian Kemp has announced that he will sign an executive order to immediately cancel K-12 public schools though the rest of the academic year in the daily press conference at the State Capitol.
Governor Kemp also ordered a statewide shelter in place order to curb the spread of the coronavirus that have caused 4638 cases and 139 deaths in the state to date.
“New models show Georgia will need more time to prepare for hospital surge capacity, and while we are making excellent progress with our team, we have got to be more aggressive,” Kemp said.
He also declared the shelter in place includes exceptions for medical supplies, grocery stores, and selected critical manufacturing operations.
Law enforcement officers will actively enforce the statewide restrictions.
