Duluth, February 19, 2019 — Georgia Asian Times hosted an Asian Public Forum on Gwinnett Transit at the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.
Charlotte Nash, Chairman of Gwinnett Board of Commissioners, share with the audience details of the upcoming March 19 referendum and the contract with MARTA.
“The Gwinnett Transit will bring help relief to the traffic congestion and better connectivity throughout Gwinnett County. It will help with the quality of life in Gwinnett in years to come,” said Chairman Nash.
“With the ‘Gwinnett language' imposed on the agreement with MARTA, Gwinnett maintains the right to audit the books and take charge of the spending of Gwinnett funds dedicated for MARTA expansion in Gwinnett,” said Chairman Nash referring to the contract agreement.
Alan Chapman, Executive Director of Gwinnett's Department of Transportation, presented information on transit options, routes, and implementation of the transit plan if the referendum passes on March 19.
Chapman also reminded audience of the early voting dates for the referendum. Voters are encourage to vote early at seven locations in Gwinnett starting from March 4 to March 15. Voters can also cast their vote starting from February 25 to March 15 at Board of Registrations and Elections Office in Lawrenceville.
The forum presented opportunities for Gwinnett's Asian residents to learn more about the Gwinnett Transit referendum. Audience had opportunities to ask questions and learn more about the transit vote.
