Doraville, June 2, 2021 – Police discovered a woman with gunshot wound about 9:30 pm on Saturday, May 29 at the southbound Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near Tilly Mill Road. The woman was identified as Carmen Jai Yi Lee, who was a 25-year old University of Georgia graduate.

Police suspected the woman was a victim of road rage shooting.

Lee is the oldest of three children in her family. Lee's parents immigrated from Malaysia.

Alvin Lee, Lee's younger brother has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for her funeral and miscellaneous expenses.

AD: High Museum of Atlanta

Alvin wrote, “Being the older child meant she had the most responsibility. She was put in the position of taking care of our parents and her younger siblings. Yet, even with all that responsibility on her shoulders, she never gave in, but persevered through her hardships to get to where she was. It hurts to know that she is gone … We would do anything to bring her back home.”

The page has so far raised over $48,000 to date.

Funeral services for Carmen will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 2:30 pm in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes and Crematory.

The senseless murder have cause further anxiety and safety fears among the local Asian American community. AAPI community in metro Atlanta have been facing fears due to hate crimes since the Atlanta spa attacks.
