Atlanta, December 4, 2018 – The Consulate General of Japan hosted a reception in honor of His Majesty Emperor Akihito’s 84th Birthday at the residence of Consul General Takashi Shinozuka in Buckhead.
Over 200 invited guests attended the reception including several state officials from Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama.
Governor Nathan Deal sends his congratulatory remarks along with a special declaration in honor of His Majesty Akihito’s birthday to mark the friendship between the State of Georgia and the nation of Japan.

The official birthday falls on December 23rd, according to Consul General Shinozuka.
Guests were treated to sumptuous sushis prepared by Japanese chefs and imported Japanese sake.
Georgia is currently home to over 660 Japanese companies employing over 26,000 workers. The State of Georgia opened its first Trade and Tourism Office in Tokyo in 1973.
