Norcross, July 27, 2021 – The Atlanta's Korean community commemorate the sacrifices of U.S. War Veterans in their services during Korean War at a wreath laying ceremony early this morning at the Korean American Association of Atlanta (KAAGA) headquarters building.
The annual event organized is by Mr. Sunny Park and the American Korean Friendship Society.
Over 75,000 Georgians fought in the Korean War and 740 Georgians were killed in action with 1040 wounded. 158 soldiers are still unaccounted for, according to Georgia Department of Veterans Service.
Among the dignitaries attended and provided remarks at the ceremony including Dr. Rich McCormick, LTC (R) US Marine Corp, Emergency Rooms Physician, Jimmy Burnette, Mayor of Suwanee, General (R) Larry Ellis, Past Chairman, American Korean Friendship Society, Honorable Yoonjoo Park, Consul General of Republic of Korea, Major General Thomas Carden, Georgia Adjutant General, Sam Olen, Former Attorney General of State of Georgia and Charlie Yoon Kim, President of Korean American Association of Atlanta.
Mr. Norman Board, President of Korean War Veterans Association, provided a brief remarks and response from Korean War Veterans.
The American Korean Friendship Society is a non-profit, non-political civic organization founded in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Society is to celebrate and strengthen the unique relationship between the peoples of the Republic of Korea and the United States of America.
