Duluth, October 12, 2018 — The Korean community celebrates 50th anniversary of its immigration to metro Atlanta with a Korean American Friendship Concert at the Infinite Energy Arena.
The Consulate General of The Republic of Korea in Atlanta organized the free concert to commemorate Korean immigrants living in metro Atlanta. There are over 120,000 Koreans currently residing in metro Atlanta, according to Young-jun Kim, Consul General of Korea in Atlanta.
Atlanta is ranked third in terms of Korean population behind Los Angeles and New York. There are over 80 Korean companies operating in metro Atlanta and employs over 10,000 employees.
Over 3,000 spectators gathered to witness performances by Korean American Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, composed of five local orchestras — Atlanta Korean Symphony Orchestra, Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra, KCA Orchestra, Hope Johns Creek Orchestra, Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestra and four choruses — Korean American Philharmonic Chorus, Atlanta Hanmaum Women’s Choir, Atlanta Ladies Ensemble, Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra Chorus.
The evening's performance also featured world renowned violinist Ji-Hae Park and Bigman, the 2017 Asian Beatbox Champion.
