Atlanta, August 15, 2022 – Reverend Senator Raphael Warnock's re-election campaign for Senate has announced its hiring of Cam T Ashling as its Asian American and Pacific Islander Constituency Outreach Director. Ashling, a longtime community leader from the non-profit sector is now a Democratic activist who also served as a member of the Georgia Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for Biden-Harris Leadership Council, immigrated to Georgia in 1988 as a political refugee from Vietnam. In addition to being a community trailblazer, she is a small business owner, single mom of a five year-old and enjoys building political power for the AAPI community through critical elections like this midterm election cycle.

Reverend Raphael Warnock is running for Senate to fight for affordable health care, protect voting rights, and ensure the dignity of working people. His Republican challenger is dogged with controversy and allegation of domestic abuse, lied about being an FBI agent, and a turbulent personal history.

Ashling will lead the campaign's efforts to reach out to and mobilize the Asian American community in Georgia, a top priority for the Warnock for Georgia campaign. Asian American voters are a key and growing part of the electorate in the state and was instrumental in flipping the state Blue for Biden and electing Senator Ossoff and Senator Warnock in 2021 for Democratic majority voting power in the Senate that lead to the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Bill. Asian American turnout in the 2020 election nearly doubled since the 2016 election.

Warnock has committed to meeting directly with Asian American voters in Georgia as he campaigns across the state on a bus tour. Warnock will be hosting a rally with members of the AAPI community Friday, September 2nd in Gwinnett County. The location and time will be announced soon! Visit: warnockforgeorgia.com
