Gwinnett County Chairwoman Hendrickson requested Governor Kemp to veto redrawn district Bill

The substitute map passed by the General Assembly was not created though open, public process and has ignored the will of the Board of Commissioners.

Lawrenceville, Feb 15, 2022 – The Chairwoman of the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners have written a letter to Governor Kemp urging him to veto House Bill 873. The bill did not reflect the will of the Gwinnett County voters and it impose commission districts upon the County that are opposed by Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners and members of the Gwinnett County Legislative delegation, according to Chairwoman Nicole Hendrickson in her statement.

The substitute map passed by the General Assembly was not created though open, public process and has ignored the will of the Board of Commissioners. Chairwoman Hendrickson also expressed concerns that House Bill 873 will have unintended consequences on the local community in Gwinnett due to lack of public inputs, hearings, and analysis in the legislative process.
