Washington DC, Jan 3, 2021 — The United States House of Representatives, Carolyn Bourdeaux was officially sworn in as Congresswoman for Georgia's 7th Congressional District.

“I am deeply honored that the people of Georgia's 7th Congressional District placed their trust in me to be their representative in Washington,” said Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux. “We are facing some serious challenges as a nation — from a global pandemic to threats that would undermine our elections and our democracy.

“I ran for this seat to be a fierce advocate for Georgians in Washington — to fight for quality affordable health care, to get the virus under control and ensure an economic recovery that supports families, and to renew our democracy. It's time to get to work. I look forward to partnering with my new colleagues in Congress, as well as President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, to get things done for the American people.”

Bourdeaux is the first woman to represent Georgia's 7th Congressional District and the first Democrat to be elected in the district in 20 years. She recently announced her appointment to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. In Congress, Bourdeaux will be a strong advocate for affordable health care, an economic recovery that puts workers and small businesses first, investing in her district's world-class public education system, and developing improved transportation infrastructure to unlock economic opportunity.
