Atlanta, August 5, 2017 — John Slosar, the Hong Kong Chairman of the Hong Kong-United States Business Council, Chairman of Swire Pacific Limited and Cathay Pacific Airways Limited, delivers the keynote address at a luncheon forum hosted by National Association of Chinese Americans and the Hong Kong Association of Atlanta.
Swire is an anchor bottler of Coca-Cola and related products in Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China. He is in town visiting with Coca-Cola’s partner and Cathay Pacific’s cargo operations.
Slosar discussed Hong Kong’s economic future and reflected on the past 20 years of development in the city since its return to Chinese sovereignty.
“Businesses in Hong Kong will continue to witness “light touch” by the government,” said Slosar referring to Hong Kong’s special administrative government.
Under the new Hong Kong new Chief Executive Carrie Lam’s leadership, the administration is expected to focus on education funding, resolving affordable housing issues, developing an Information Technology and creative industry economy, according to Slosar.
He shared with the audience on the opportunities arising in Hong Kong resulting from the greater integration of the region via the Greater Bay Area and Lok Ma Chau Loop projects.
In addition, he also discussed the prospects of business opportunities arising from Beijing’s Belt and Road investment initiative.
