Duluth, July 13, 2016 – Georgia Asian Times host its annual 25 Most Influential Asian Americans in Georgia Awards dinner at Sonesta Gwinnett Place last night. Over 200 guests including Honorable Takashi Shinozuka, Consul General of Japan, Honorable Nagesh Singh, Consul General of India, Honorable Steven Tai, Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Georgia Representative Pedro Marin (D-96), and Hon. Charlotte Nash, Chair, Gwinnett Board of Commissioners.
Georgia Asian Times also honors two organizations with the Asian American Spirit Awards recognizing their contribution to the Asian American community. American Korean Friendship Society and National Association of Chinese Americans (NACA) were the recipients of the awards. Mr. Sunny Park, President of AKFS and Mr. Greg Hubler, President of NACA, along with Ms. Lani Wong accepted the awards on behalf of respective organizations.
“We are proud to host the 25 Most Influential Asians for their contribution to community. The awards is to recognize their service and efforts,” said Li Wong, Publisher of Georgia Asian Times.
Dr. Daniel Kaufman, CEO & President of Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, delivers the keynote address for the evening. He details the Gwinnett Chamber’s new 5-year Strategic Plan and growth initiatives. The evening’s program was hosted by Mr. Vince Bailey and Ms. Kimberley Liemkeo.
Every award recipients deliver an acceptance speech detailing their determination, hard work, and their early struggle as an immigrant background.
Georgia Asian Times received over 200 online nominations for this year’s award through its website. A selection committee comprising of civic leaders, ethnic media, and Board of Editors from Georgia Asian Times narrowed the selection to the final 25 honorees. Selection criteria are based on individual’s contribution to community or their professional impact on the community.
Online nomination for 2017 GAT 25 Awards will be posted on GAT website in February 2017.
