Byung J. (“B.J”) Pak represents District 102, which encompasses the City of Lilburn, and unincorporated portions of Gwinnett County. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Representative Pak immigrated to the United States at the age of 9. A long time resident of southern Gwinnett County, he is the first Korean-American ever to be elected to the General Assembly from any state in the Southeastern United States.
Rep. Pak is a partner at Schiff Hardin LLP, a national law firm with over 300 attorneys and five offices in major cities. His practice focuses on representing individuals and corporate entities in government investigations, conducting internal corporate investigations, and advising clients on regulatory compliance matters. He also represents clients in high-stakes civil litigation matters.
Rep. Pak earned his law degree with highest honors from the University of Illinois College of Law, and his accounting degree from Stetson University, where he was a Florida Academic Scholar. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (Illinois). Rep. Pak currently serves on the Judiciary Non-civil, Health and Human Services, and Code Revision committees.

BJ Pak is much more than one of the most influential Asian-Americans in Georgia- he is an influential Georgian, having just completed his “freshman” year as a representative in Georgia’s State House. In my opinion, he won the election for District 102 as a result of the same characteristics that have contributed to his personal success– integrity, openness and a commitment to doing the right thing.
